Defences: Weapon Systems: Cargo: Survey ships are specialized starships that are used for scientific research missions, such as observing the collapse of a star, mapping newly discovered planets and nebulae, or simply being an isolated location for hazardous experiments. Most science vessels are not designed for long term missions. A science vessel (or research vessel) is a limited-role starship. They are not well armed, but instead carries laboratories, advanced sensors, and in some cases, advanced shields. They spend a great deal of their time exploring uncharted and unexplored areas of space that have not been claimed by any known race. As this is the case, survey ships are often the first class of Federation vessel an alien race might come into contact with. This privilege and burden of first contact is not taken lightly and, as the slightest misinterpreted action can result in tragedy, the crews and commanding officers of these ships are extremely well versed in first-contact procedures. They are equipped with the latest in sensor and communications technology, allowing greater ease in contacting and communicating with different alien species. And can chart and explore entire planets within a few short weeks, laying the foundation for a more detailed expedition. |

Defences: Weapon Systems: Cargo: Basically a mobile shipyard these carry large quantities of spare parts, raw materials to manufacture spare parts and trained personnel to handle the actual repairs. The main purpose is to support a fleet away from its base by allowing for more intensive repairs to be done on the spot rather than requiring a ship to return to base and in extreme cases patching up a badly damaged ship enough for it to get back to base rather than having to be scuttled. |
There are no Medical or Repair ships in the Tsaurid fleet as all warriors are expected to die honourably in battle. There are likewise no survey or exploratory ships with scouts being used instead.
