Blitzkrieg was the Axis' super team during the second world war. They were often opposed by the Allied Freedom Squadron across europe. Until finally they launched an ill fated attack on England during which Thor destroyed an artifact which unleashed a time storm which swept up all of Blitzkrieg and deposited them in the modern day.

The Fifth Reich is a semi secret organization in modern Germany dedicated to the research and use of Mythos forces for the restoration of the Reich as rightful rulers of the world. Growing out of the Gesellschaft and the general Nazi interest in the occult, the original members were active throughout World War II. After the war, surviving members escaped to South America with other Nazi fugitives. For decades they remained on the run, hiding and growing old in foreign lands. At least half were killed by Mossad, or other Nazi-hunters. That changed in 1995, when Dr Miracle was recruited two other survivors, Reinhard Achim and Klaus Knut, to become the core of the new Fifth Reich, which was headquartered at Arzberg, Germany. The Reich is particularly interested in re-obtaining a copy of the Necronomicon, which they believe will let them duplicate Hitler's Ascension. Since that time, they have been spreading its dark tentacles through the hate-filled corners of the world, preaching an Undying Reich. They have support and contact with a spectrum of right-wing groups, especially those with fascist sympathies.

The Reich had a severe shortage of new members to add to their ranks. In order to make sure that the Reich's future is secure, they have set themselves up as managers of orphanages throughout the world. Their orphanages are nondiscriminatory honestly as to avoid suspicion even as the children are soon divided into those whom will become members of the organization and those whom shall become experiments. They send the best children to study under the hands directly of their immortal founders while the rest are trained as either shock troops or sponsored for their eventual pursuit in areas of business, genetics, and politics.
The Reich had a severe shortage of new members to add to their ranks. The arrival of the timeswept Blitzkrieg changed everything.

They have since launched terrorist attacks against Germany, China, Israel, and even England.
