Powerful, expansive, and influential, the Eon Energy Corporation is a company like no other. In the past, Eon was an unparalleled leader in the energy industry, both because of its clout but also its sterling reputation. Eon even diversified into high-tech research and development, aiding in the development of some of  S.H.A.D.O.W.s equipment. Unfortunately, in recent years the company has backed many suspect endeavours in its drive for political and economic power. Despite being implicated in these shady practices, Eon executives and employees have skirted outright arrest and conviction. The Eon Energy Corporation is the world's largest conglomerate and generates billions of dollars in profits each year by refining and manufacturing products related to oil through its many holdings. Like any business enterprise, the goal of Eon is to increase its profits, but are notorious for their determination to make massive profits regardless of any laws or moral principles, and continually covertly use unethical and illegal means to increase its profits. As such, it is involved in numerous criminal plots that require the opposition of the various superheroes to stop. While Eon has encountered numerous superheroes, it has most notably been at odds with El Tigre and his Tomorrow Corporation. Eon has also regularly been at odds with The Prometheus Institute regarding energy sources as the latter has been involved with alternative energy research that could hurt Eon's oil profitability. Eon has its own army-like security task force, and has employed a number of special agents, many of whom have superhuman abilities.

The United Nations Environment Programme has noted that Eon’s Papau New Guinea mine site’s uncontrolled discharge of 70 million tonnes of waste rock and mine tailings annually has spread more than 10 km down the Fly river, raising river beds and causing flooding, sediment deposition, forest damage, and a serious decline in the area's biodiversity. The resulting devastation caused by the mine has included the loss of fish, a vital food source for the local community; loss of forest and crops due to flooding; and the loss of "areas of deep spiritual value for villagers are now submerged in mine tailings. Eon is listed as one of the 90 companies extracting and marketing fossil fuels that are responsible for two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions since the beginning of the industrial age. Although Eon has been voluntarily reporting its direct GHG emissions since 1996, it has been criticised in 2013 for lobbying against carbon pricing in Australia. In 2015 a dam holding back waste water from an iron ore mine in Mariana, south-eastern Brazil, owned by BHP Eon and Vale burst, devastating a nearby town with mudslides, killing at least 17 people, injuring more than 50 and causing enormous environmental damage.

Eon has also been busy exploring the Underground but so far has experienced heavy losses from the various inhabitants.
