The School of Extrahuman Education and Research (S.E.E.R.) is a massive organization founded by businesswoman Zhang Huiyann, one of the world's most powerful metahumans, dedicated to finding and training other metahumans to train into her personal army. The institution is funded by her company Huiyann Global Conglomerates, a private non-profit organization that finances education, industry, space, and medical research, and provides an environment where people with special abilities and talents can achieve their full potential. With twenty-eight branches around the world, eleven in the United States alone, Huiyann Global Conglomerates is a major corporate force. Huiyann believes that humanity needs her guiding hand to survive, so she uses the school to train a personal army of metahumans at her command. The most powerful of her soldiers are called Prefects.

The school itself was designed as a Neoclassical mansion, the grounds have large open fields, surrounding woods, and a large freshwater lake. Located within the courtyard are the baseball court and a swimming pool. The hangar bay is an underground area for the storage of the school's aircraft such as the Stealth Jet, Stratojet and Stealth Copter. The hangar bay is located beneath the basketball court. Upon departure and landing, a klaxon will sound warning for anyone nearby to vacate the area. Students are advised to move immediately, once the klaxon sounds. The grounds have access to tunnels, which are a series of abandoned military tunnels and sewer lines connecting to various locales such as New York City and New Jersey. The ground floor houses the grand foyer, kitchen, formal dining room, parlour, library, sitting room and Huiyann's office. The second floor is private chambers and a study lounge. The basement provides addition storage and a wine cellar. Atop the mansion is a large glass-panelled dome.

Located in the caverns beneath the ground, utilizing hard-light hologram technology the caves serve as a place for the metahumans to train for combat. They also hold an underground prison facility for those enemies that Huiyann deems too unsafe to let roam about freely. The holding cells consist of small titanium-steel cells, with the same type of door. Various safety measures were be taken, such as erecting an internal force field to back up the titanium-steel walls, a nullification field to 'switch off' mutant abilities, and various others. There are also stasis tubes, which hold inhabitants in a state of suspended animation until they are awakened.
